I have found herbal rememdy to be more effective than a pharmaceutical one
for the edema resulting in delayed lactogenesis in a post-partum mother.
Dandelion leaf is a nutritive herb that is a diuretic similar in
effectiveness to lasix; however, dandelion leaf does not disrupt the milk
supply as can lasix.
I suggest a mother try 2 capsules, 3X per day until swelling is gone. I
often suggest Alfalfa in addition to the dandelion as alfalfa is a mild
diuretic and also galactagogue (before suggesting alfalfa, screen for
blood clotting disorders and allergy to grasses).
Hope this is helpful, Kathy.
