In suggesting ibuprofen use as a possible cause of GERD, I meant the use in
treating the mother. Dr Hale writes that it enters Mother's milk "in very
low levels (0.06% of maternal dose). In a study in which mothers received
400mg every 6 hours for a total of 5 doses, breastmilk levels were less
than 1/0mg/L.
Some mothers are taking up to 800mg every 6 hours for several days
postpartum. Since one side effect is "epigastric pain" ibuprofen made my
"loose ideas" list.
I'm thinking wide here.
