I tell the new moms that 2 weeks from now, they'll be breastfeeding while they fix the breakfast eggs, and they'll answer the phone while doing all this and never even think abt the latch! Breastfeeding moms are the original multitaskers.

I think you are spot on here Pat.  When you think about how most first time
moms breastfeed in the hospital and during the first couple of weeks, it is no
wonder they can't feature breastfeeding in the mall.  Most of them have half a
dozen pillows, have breast totally bared and have baby in football hold --
not exactly the picture they want to present at the mall.....

When a mom says to me that she could/would *never* nurse in public, I suggest
that when she gets comfortable with latch -- when baby can do it in his
sleep, and she doesn't really have to guide the process any more she may feel
differently about it, so to keep an open mind....

As I've said before, my Tim is 19 (can it BE????) and he's still waiting for
someone to just "whip it out."
