The only criteria that matter are that mom is fully comfortable and baby
gets the milk. I had a delightful consult with the mom of a 3 or 4 month
old who was fat as a grub but who nursed with his lower lip tucked in. "Is
it comfortable?" "Yes." "Is he thriving?" "Yes." "Well then, it doesn't
matter." "But all the pictures show the lower lip curled out... "Is it
comfortable?" "Yes." "Is he thriving?" "Yes." "Well then, it doesn't
matter."

I never did convince her, but at a year he was still fat, still nursing with
his lower lip tucked in, and his mom had never been in pain.

How many of us have rejected babies for positioning videos because they
looked terrible at breast, even though they were the 2nd or 3rd thriving
baby of a friend? (I have a co-Leader whose babies priss around her nipple
as if it were a pencil eraser. No problem.)
