Hello wise colleagues,
A mom wrote me (and I've gotten her consent to post) about something I'm
totally unfamiliar with. She's nursing her 4 month old and will have a
vein procedure called EVLT in 4 weeks. She says that an additional
procedure accompanies this called sclerotherapy in which the use hypotonic
saline to correct the veins. She's been told that since the saline is
injected directly in the vein, she will not be able to breastfeed for 48
hours afterwards. She's concerned because her baby hates the bottle. I'm
clearly out of my league here, and will do more digging late tonight, but
if anyone can enlighten me sooner, please do so!
Many thanks,
Jenny Z. Morris, MM, IBCLC, and LLL
