Could she mean a lactating adenoma?
This history smacks of inefficient feeding...repeated plugs and mastitis
often happen when a baby imperfectly drains the breast. Couple that
with relatively low weight gain and prolonged feeds, and I would bet
that the baby is not doing a great job.
Sometimes the hormonal problems that contribute to infertility are
responsible for low milk supply, but one does not usually see the
repeated plugs and mastitis in a mother with low milk supply.
