I am nursing my last child who is 2 and a half. He is my only boy. It
looks like he will probably nurse longer than his sisters (he loves it
plus there will be no pregnancy interfering with milk supply).
I have no plans to wean him, but as he gets older, this is what I think
may be at the back of my mind: Not that breastfeeding will affect his
sexual development, but that breastfeeding keeps him more dependent.
And in this culture I think it is expected that boys will be more
independent than girls and that they should acheive this at a young age.
I'm not saying it is right, but it is certainly something I think about.
