A nursing professor recommended an excellent reference book on alternative
medications for a pharmacotherapeutics course I recently completed. The book
contains a wide listing of alternative medications and lists drug interactions
as well as contraindications for their use. The complete reference is:
Fetrow, D.W. & Avila J.R. (2002). Professional's Handbook of Complementary &
Alternative Medicines, 2nd Ed. Springhouse, Pennsylvania: Springhouse.
I have also stumbled across a few other reference works focused on alternative
medications in our university's health sciences library and I know that others
can be ordered on-line from most of the major on-line book dealers. Please
e-mail me off-list if you would like me to look up the information you need in
the Fetrow book.
