I just want to add one thing about the baby that began to gain less weight. First of all, I agree whoever mentioned avacado. It is a wonderful healthy way to add calories. I was frankly horrified by the mayo idea, and surprised that a doctor would say it is OK due to the eggs.
But just one other point, I have many moms who think that when they start solids at 6 months that they therefore cut out a BF session. The food is not INSTEAD of the breastmilk, it is in addition. I am not really sure why this is not obvious, but I continuously get mothers that had no idea of that, and then wonder why their baby has weaned or they have lost their supply by about 9 months.... Many babies take in only a few teaspoons of cereal or whatever, and while being a nice supplement, this is nowhere near enough to be the meal. When they go back to the amount they were BF, and ADD the solids, the gain goes back to normal.
