Just my experience here. When my oldest was born, thirteen years ago (she
just became a teen), the nurses mentioned that she looked a bit jaundiced. This
was at a free standing birthing center. They said to lay her near a window.
No blood was drawn to check her bilirubin level. When the pediatrician
checked her before we were discharged, the nurses mentioned the jaundice. The
doctor said she was Asian and just fine. Not sure if this was referring to
Gabbie's skin tone or that Asian babies tend to have a higher bilirubin count.
