Subject: Ethics issue
My understanding of no.23 of the IBCLC Code of Ethics would be centred
around the word "concern". In the far majority of clients I consult, I
do not believe I have clinical concerns. More that I am undertaking a
consultation and providing evidence based information, support and
guidance to a family who are experiencig some difficulties or thier own
concerns with breastfeeding. All my client are self referred or via a
friend, relative or previous client or from our College or Association
directories of L/C's in private practice which are widely distributed
throughout our State. My documentation of all consults and follow up
phone calls are a top priority. I would be grateful for comments from
IBLCE members on this post...thankyou Jan Brooke RN. RM. FACM.IBCLC.
