Mothers in my hospital have told me that their nurse has told them the same
thing. The mom was warned to not put baby to breast again, he was not
hungry, he just wanted to suck. The implication was, there was something
"wrong" with using mom as a pacifier, and something "wrong" with a mother
who would allow it. And this was from a nurse who BF'd her children,
verbally says breast is best, but teaches such severe limits to BFing.
I'm still spinning my wheels in mud.
Congratulations, Jennifer, on breaking down one more barrier. I'll bet you
will be a speaker at their next conference. You should be.
(And one unfortunate
comment that babies should nurse for no more than 15-20 minutes per side
because after that "it's just a pacifier.")
