~~I don't have any research or anything, just personal experience. I offered
to nurse my ds right after his oral surgery to replace 8 teeth and his gums
were like raw hamburger :-( afterwards.~~
the mom from the nursing dyad i am working w/ contacted me today after his
surgery. he nursed imm after and has nursed much more frequently than usual
today. which sounds about right to me! :-)
the mom was very surprised late yesterday by a nurse telling her she'd
anticipated the mom's anxiety and researched the bfing issue. she told the mom all
sources indicated bfing was not contraindicated. i don't know who she is, but i
love her nonetheless. this mom was finally able to stop obsessing over the
possible weaning and deal with preparing for the surgery. thanks to all who also
responded, i reported the cumulative anecdotes, knowledge and experiences to
her and they also vastly helped to ease her mind.
gratefully,
~jacqui gruttadauria~
