MessageHi
I work in on a 28 bed postnatal unit
The mother/baby ratio on a morning duty is usually 4 - 1, dosent seem so bad, but we also have rate of c.sections. The ratio at night is usually 5-1. The unit is staffed by midwives . There are 2 unit assistants that make beds, get rooms ready for new admissions. and we often have either obsteric nurses, staff nurses or enrolled nurses to make up our staff numbers at each shift.
Sincerely
June Nicholls
Midwife
