Hi, Lyla.
You wrote, "Do you mean like skin tags but on the ears? not obvious
ones, but I must admit I didn't examine closely for that, as I had never heard
of this condition!"
I'm not sure either, Lyla. I didn't see the baby until after his
surgery, when the ear tags were removed and the jaw was reshaped to better match
the other side. Prior to that, the mom and I just spoke on the phone about
what we thought was a nursing strike. But I'm guessing they are just skin tags,
not involving the cartilage of the ear, because the pediatrician just wanted
to rubber-band them so the blood supply would dry up and they would fall off.
I'm thinking it would not be possible to rubber-band a "tag" that had any
cartilage in it.
You also asked if there are any other symptoms that can accompany the
syndrome. I really don't know. I'm not at all an expert in this syndrome.
What I know, I've shared with you. But if there is a children's hospital with
a craniofacial team in your area, you might be able to ask someone there what
else we might look for.
