Hello all Lactnetters!
It has been a long time since I posted last time. I have been working with
a mother who have had severe problems with urination after her last
delivery. (Her bladder was let to become overfull and the detrusor damaged
and urinating has been difficult. Normal delivery with epidural.) Now after
a year and a half things are better but she needs a medication to help her
empty her bladder (Ubretid, distigminbromid). She would like to know wether
she could breastfeed with this medication if they decide to have a fourth
baby. She had a miscarriage a couple months ago and could not urinate after
that for a short time so it is likely that she would need medication if she
have another baby.
I tried to search in the Archives but found nothing. (What has happened our
search option, it seems much more difficult now?) Does anyone have
information about this medicine? I am going to ask one of our urologists
about this but I doubt if he know much about breastfeeding and urological
medicines.
Thank you in advance!
Warmly,
Pia Ruohotie

PS. I am working with this mother as a urological RN, not breastfeeding
counsellor but the mother recognized me to be also a bf counsellor (small
world?)
