I have permission to ask the following:
"Can you see if anyone has some information on treatment of a milk fistula?
One of the surgeons called me about a mom who just had a 6-8cm abscess
removed, and now has a milk fistula.
Baby is 1 month old, and the concern is the constant drainage and mess
associated with the fistula. They are now packing and changing dressing all
the time.
He would like to try a new dressing called a vac. dressing, that places a
tube in the fistula, that is attached to a sponge to help with secretions
and drainage. This vac dressing may also drain milk if the fistula is
constantly moist with milk.
Can you get me any information???"
I searched the archives, but didn't find anything recent. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Roxanne Gollata, RN, LC Intern
