I've actually come across this idea before --- in a family medicine book
from the early 1940s. The book is my mother-in-law's and I don't have it
handy, but she lent it to me when my first was born 3½ years ago. As I
recall, the book included very solemn prohibitions against women exercising
with a woman's suitability for breastfeeding being one of the major reasons
that she shouldn't become muscular.
The author used an analogy with cows. Beef cows, which are large and
muscular, have poor quality milk; Jersey cows, which are small and delicate
(as cows go), have the highest quality, highest fat milk. Obviously (ahem),
the same holds true for human females.
On the plus side, the book was very pro-breastfeeding --- no schedules,
delay solids until the middle of the first year, and nurse at least 9 months.
regards,
Julia
