Hello, All.
I have worked with two moms and their babies who had this condition.
Hirschsprung's (this is the correct spelling) is a congenital condition which
occurs more often in boys and children with Down Syndrome, though it is
possilbe in otherwise-healthy girls. In both cases, breastfeeding seemed to help
the babies heal more quickly. And both cases were diagnosed when the babies
were very young, long before solids were started. It's one of the things babies
should be tested for if they are repeatedly constipated, and change in diet
(mom's if bf, baby's if formula-fed) doesn't seem to help.
