I hate to reopen a bag of worms but the recent thread of time management has
hit very close to home at my hospital. Recently they decreased the hours
and staffing for our program. The director has asked me to research other
hospital based programs that are successful and ask what their patient:LC
ratio is.

We have 2 facilities and approximately 2800+ births a year. We see on
average, 125-150 inpatients and 30-40 outpatients each month. We have one
full time (40 hour )position and one 20 hour a week position. Our job
includes staff education, breastfeeding promotion and we offer pump rentals
and sales, 2 breastfeeding prenatal classes each month and community
involvement for hospital events.

The only info I have found is in the Riordan and Auerbach, a ratio of 1:1000
for hospital based LC's. What are the successful hospital programs ratios?
If anyone has information I would appreciate it. I realize there are many
people doing more, quite honestly, I can't imagine how.
