Interesting people, the Pearls--I would not be surprised if they
released a sequel, "To Train the Elderly." Does Mom sometimes forget
to put her dentures in? A quick switch in the face cures that! Does
Dad reach for the remote control when he's watching TV? Whip his arms!
Whap! Whap! Whap! Do the old folks tend to reminisce too much? Whip
'em! You may have to take care of them, but by God, it'll be on your
terms.
In the area of the world where I live and work, I am a "mandated
reporter." I am obliged by law, not simply my own conscience, to
report child abuse (and what I read certainly constitutes child abuse)
to Children's Protective Services in the hopes that with education, the
abuser can learn how to be a parent; and if they are uneducable, that
the child can be put in a home that will give them a chance to grow up
without abuse.
