Sounds like she has it under control. The big thing is that both twins
breastfeed exclusively if at all possible, and that mom start pumping
early if the babies are not doing their job at breast. You will know
from the diapers. The one thing I encourage parents of twins to do is
keep careful written diaper counts. I think that early high demand on
the milk supply is critical to having enough when both babies reach peak
intake.
Since they are early, and she had mag SO4, she will want to give them as
much skin to skin contact as possible to increase the number of times
they wake to feed. (Dad can provide this as well). Mom will probably
feel some muscle weakness, so good support of her own body is critical
(sidelying, anyone?).
When she feels up to trying both at once, a twin pillow will come in
handy. They are large and sloped to keep the babies rolled toward mom.
I generally latch the best eater on first, in the most stable body
position possible (clutch hold wrapped around mom's torso, etc). Mom
can allow the baby to stay in place with the twin pillow and perhaps a
rolled receiving blanket at his back, and then she can use both her
hands to position the weaker feeder (which can be the larger baby). She
can then use one arm to support the weaker baby at breast, and have one
hand free to scratch her nose, help the other baby, slug down some
water, etc. The only hard part is getting both twins onto her lap with
that huge pillow on board!
It's great that she has you who at least believes exclusively bf twins
is possible. That makes a huge difference.
