Hello
*** Good morning. I have been reading some bf initiation stats indicating
that bf initiation rates in France (50%) and Ireland (31%) are even lower
than the US. Any ideas about why this is true in these places?***
Don't know for Ireland, but from France the most recent stats (2000) is
52,3% for breastfeeding initiation at the national level (level is rising).
There are disparities, with prevalence from 34,3% to 67,2%.
The lenght of breastfeeding is rising too. In a survey in 2002, prevalence
of breastfeeding was 43% at 1 month, 16% à 3 months, and 1,5% at 12 months
and more. Progress are slow, but there are progress.
Kindly
