I want to second everything Sandi said! People coming into a health setting
want to feel they are being involved in the decision process. For many people
who do not have a back ground in medicine this can be intimidating. So they
make birth plans or bring list of questions.
As LC's we can help inform both the parents and the staff and then let them
make the informed decision.
I want to also add if parents want their birth plan to be taken seriously or
are uncomfortable talking to doctors and nurses about their care, they should
consider having a doula with them.
