Boy, they are weasels aren't they? 10 or so years ago when I was on the ILCA
board, I vaguely recall that the JHL looked at a bunch of the books on the
market for breastfeeding moms, and Kathleen Huggins' Nursing Mothers' Companion
was voted number one. The BOOK was. This was not a reference to the booklet
that MJ bought from Harvard Press and subsequently started putting in their
bags for moms.
The lesson all us naifs learned is that you don't sign a contract with a
publishing company without specifics in the contract as to what they can and
cannot do with a book. Once the publishing company has it, it is no longer
property of the author, and anything can (and will) be done with it.
I'm thinking that bruhaha was along about 1992 or thereabouts.
