There is a very good option without the risk which I have used for
oversupply of milk. You can use a low dose oral conraceptive 20 Ug for a
few days. In conjunction with this medication I recommend avoiding pumping
or manipulating the breasts to allow supply and demand to equalize. In my
experience it ususlly takes no more than 5 days and many times only 2 -3 .
The woman may experience some withdrawal bleeding when she stops the
medication. Bromocryptine in my view should be avoided in the postpartum
woman.
