I agree with what others have suggested about help for the expectant mother who just wants to pump.
More exposure to breastfeeding through a support group/LLL meetings/WIC peer counselor/etc.
Literature on breastfeeding and general baby care (Sears) and
women's health issues--books like
Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom by Northrop; Every Woman's Body by Korte; Our Bodies Our Selves
by Boston Women's Health Collective
I think all these explore some of the emotional issues that pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding
can bring up--sort of get her thinking and maybe raise some issues that she may be having, but is
unconscious of or afraid to bring up with anyone else.
Another good book might be Hidden Feelings of MOtherhood by Kendall-Tackett.
It is of course important to respect her choices, but at the same time offer help
for things she may be struggling with.
