During my daily constitutional this AM, my walking buddy and I were discussing the phenomenon of plastic parenting. (She's a mother of 4 long-term BF children and an adoption caseworker.) We had moved onto this topic after discussing her upcoming weekend trip to Washington, DC where her daughters hoped to come upon a street vendor selling "knock-off" designer purses, etc. I then mentioned I'd heard that Kate Spade had created a "designer stroller." Of course, that brought us full circle to plastic parenting.
That's when it hit us. If we could just talk Kate Spade and/or Vera Bradley into producing designer slings or baby carrier/packs, we think this would really bring these items into style--all would want one or the other--and help move late-Boomer and Gen-X & Y parents past their close contact hang-ups...
