A short while back I had written to my local Red Cross chapter as well as the National Red Cross ( US) office and asked about their feelings on this topic and about integrating a breastfeeding education section into the 'readiness' materials they have for times of crisis and natural disasters ( Atlantic Hurricane Season in my area in particular). I citied materials on the Emergency Nutrition Network as part of my letter.
The local ads asking for baby formula donations during hurricanes prompted me to write whereas during many hurricanes down here we a) have no power b) have no clean water supply c) have no trucks delivering groceries for a short while.
I have yet to hear back from either the local or National offices, but wonder if any LC's or LLL/CLE's work with local Red Cross chapters either teaching or consulting?
