Personal story here, skip if you wish.
Yesterday was our park group day. One of the older
girls in group brought her two guinea pigs along; of
course, the kids were fascinated. My youngest (four
y.o.) was especially entranced by these sweet little
critters. Well, one of the other kids was holding a
piggie a bit too tight, Claire's finger was nearby,
and she got a defensive bite--it didn't break the
skin, but Claire was *inconsolable* (she is very
sensitive and gentle and couldn't comprehend why the
piggie bit her). After a lot of hugs and kisses,
offers of a drink of cold water, trying to get her to
do some deep breathing, all drowned out by deafening
wails, I quietly asked her if she wanted to nurse. I
thought she would turn me down since she usually only
nurses at bedtime. Thank goodness I had on my
ultra-stretchy/hot weather bra! Funny to note that
the young-ish moms in the group were fine with us
nursing; I thought the visiting grandma was going to
pass out--good thing she was sitting down.
The magic of Hathor the Cow Goddess is alive and well!
Mmooooo!
