When I lived in California, they had a good system.  Once a year a letter
would be sent out.  Could you be available for jury duty?  Mark yes, or no
with an explaination.  I always marked no--saying that I would love to but:
I had a nursing baby and I was the primary caregiver of my children.  I never
had a problem.
