Mellanie,
I've read the other posts re your case but I can't remember your original
post exactly. However, what struck me today was your info that baby is in
daycare for 9 hr/day. I'm wondering what kind of situation this child experiences
in daycare? how stressful? how much holding he gets? Could this baby be
depressed when away from mom? are his stress hormones being triggered too often?
All daycare isn't equal, and please everyone, no flames for looking at
separation issues, but perhaps mom could make a surprise visit to daycare and see
how baby is doing and what he's doing. I've heard from moms that their babies
don't do well with separation and won't eat; one mom added lots of breastmilk
to solids (2-3 oz, if I remember correctly) because her baby wouldn't take a
bottle. Using sweet potato, advocado, ground chicken with lots of breastmilk or
frozen breastmilk fed as slushy by spoon helped her baby to get by until
home.
Maybe a single caregiver, if possible, would help this baby rather than a
ratio of 5:1, common in daycare. There are other possibilities for wt loss but
this just may be one to investigate.
