Dear Val, when I wrote that smart comment I was specifically thinking of my
area, which continues to have poor stats (southern NJ), but I realize that
other parts of the country were having much better stats than the east
coast. I've been doing this for too many years :-) and tend to let our
local situation get me down :-( We have to realize that studies are done
locally, or regionally and that impacts the results too, plus the
confounding factor of the ever present "definition of breastfeeding." When
I was breastfeeding in the late 60's -early 70's I was the local kook :-)
We couldn't even use the word breastfeeding in newspaper releases for LLL
meetings!
But by 1986 I was hired by local hospital to be LC! Sincerely, Pat in SNJ
