Hi All,
This is Gerri from Jerusalem, Israel. I had an interesting question posed to me this morning from a new Mom on the Maternity ward where I work.
She is 2 days pp with a lovely BF baby. Her 2 1/2 year old came to visit her and asked to BF. He was weaned at 1.8 years. She allowed him access to her breast figuring (what I also assumed) that he wouldn't enjoy it. Surprise- he was VERY happy to BF and expressed desire to continue.
Besides not relishing BFing 2 children, the Mom is worried that the older child might regress psychologically if returned to the breast after so many months.
What to do? The question is a bit moot since I will not see her again. I refered her to the psychologist who works with new Moms; bonding and such. I am interested in anyone's experience. This might come up again.
Thanks much,
Gerri
