Dear Germaine
this reminds me of *years* ago when people used to use glycerine on nipples
for the same reason. What is wrong with breastmilk on the nipple?
The question I have with giving sucrose (by any Method) to a newborn is:
what does it do to gut flora, etc (as we know, formula has a dramatic
effect). Would it be as bad as formula? Any studies on specifically sucrose
and its affect on the gut? I haven't seen any and I did a search for work
not that long ago. And what about botulism-we don't give honey to babies for
this reason, would the sucrose syrup be a carrier too or is it something to
do with the bees that make honey?
I know there's Marsha's "Just One Bottle", but I am talking about sucrose
specifically.
Just pondering.....
