carole said, "As a HCP who has worked in women's
health for years,
and as a woman who loves hearing birthing and
breastfeeding tales from other women, I have heard
countless women say they *regret they did NOT
breastfeed*. I have yet to hear any woman who
breastfed her children verbalize regret over *not
bottlefeeding*."
these are salient points that are hard to get across.
OTOH, what about women who are now grandmothers who
say, "I didn't breastfeed, and I'm glad I didn't. I
didn't want to feel like a cow!" How to respond to a
comment based on a negative? we can't *prove* that
she would have liked it or if she had done it she
would have never regretted it. It matters now only
in her influence over the next generation. (this, I
might add, came up because I was commiserating with a
grandma over early weaning at 5.5 mos due to a nursing
strike, whereas the grandma was saying, "5.5 mos?!
About time she weaned!" I didn't know that....)
