'Bad' is either ineffective or uncomfortable or both
Rachel, this is exactly the terms used in Enabling Women to Brestfeed -- a
review of all the research which is applicable to the UK, by Mary Renfrew,
Mike Woolridge and Helen Ross-McGill. They say over and over that
breastfeeding should be effective and pin-fee and I now use these terms
every time I am teaching or lecturing.
This book was discussed on lactnet a while ago -- it is really important for
us in the UK, but may not be so much of a 'must hhave' elsewhere. (In the
UK you should at least know what Mary and Mike are up to as they do a lot of
influential stuff for us -- reviews of literature, etc, both I think are
invovled in Cochrane, etc).
