Hi Laurie,
Don't know what others with much more experience are doing, but we tend to
start with introductions, answer questions within introductions, and if
possible, a more formal topic, like LLL. Often, the topic comes up in
conversation, and conversation flows quickly, so I slip it in that way.
Especially with WBW coming up, I've been including a few moments for
"business", i.e., announcements, etc. I also try to include one topic or
article Lactnet has been discussing, and something regarding breastfeeding
advocacy.
In fact our Wednesday group just dispersed, after taking our WBW banner and
drawing handprints and baby footprints inbetween and around the
wording...and in each hand, mom and baby's name, and how long they've been
nursing. Going to bring my 19 year old down here tonight (she's excited
about this)and get hers on there! No--she's not still nursing---I weaned
them before college--but we just might write down that she IS in college and
was nursed for 2 1/2 years. By the way--that's the 80's, and her siblings
were nursed in the 70's and 80's too!
=)

Those of you who facilitate hospital support groups, do you have a series of
topics to cover, like LLL meetings? Or do you let the mothers introduce
questions? Any suggestions? I am starting a mother/baby bf group in late
August in honor of WBW/month. I;ve attended LLL mtgs and run/participated in
other hosp groups, but am open to suggestions.
