In Australia and New Zealand, the word for "popsicles" is "iceblocks."  (I
don't remember ever seeing those huge blocks of ice we have in grocery stores in
North America when I lived in New Zealand, so there is no confusion between
the two.)  So I think you guys are both on the same page, just a little dialect
thing!
