When I worked as a hospital LC (1997 to 2002) I encountered a number of
OB's who were stuck in the mindset that if a med wasn't good for a baby
in pregnancy or labor, it wasn't good for breastfeeding, either. Hale
was my most effective "weapon" when countering this to get through to
them that the mechanisms were very different, and that a number of
things not good before birth were okay for bfing (and vice versa
occasionally.)
