Is our sense of proportional also dictated by averages? There is lots
of healthy legitimate variation out there, and I wonder about any
doctor who relies too much on the charts without looking at the kid.

sounds like it's time to change docs, or at least get a second opinion.
I think second opinions are much underused in American culture. We are
afraid of insulting the doctor, or something. Is this true elsewhere as
well?
