The first thing that jumped out at me was the vacuum extraction. I
see a lot of problems with them, especially when there is an obvious
bruise or the bulge from the cup doesn't resolve quickly. IMO,
these babies have headaches! When you have a headache, it can hurt
to do anything with your face, especially sucking. Many seem to
resolve with patience, lots of "cuddle time" at breast-at least as
much as "work time". However, these kiddos are more prone to
jaundice and we all know that leads to feeding concerns (more
feeding would help flush out the waste products, but jaundice and
its treatments can make baby more sleepy which leads to less intake,
etc.etc.etc.). Could there still be some long-term resistance to
anything oral if there was a lot of "pushing" this baby to eat
before the effects of the vacuum resolved?

I wonder how long it took for the external signs of the vacuum to go
away? Could there still be some internal "misalignment" here? I
really think CST would be a big help at least in determining if
palate etc. are well aligned and to help correct if they are not.

I really admire this mom for sticking it out so long. So many would
have thrown in the towel many months ago! Please let us know how
this one turns out.

Winnie
