Hi Rachel,
The first thing that came to my mind was severe reflux (crying, screaming,
spitting, vomiting, colic, refusal to feed all fit). She says they have
ruled out organic causes already - well, how many times has that not been
so? For this I guess she would see a good gastroenterologist or even an ENT
doc, hopefully baby-friendly. Maybe even do a trial of the antacid type
meds. They usually help a great deal and fairly quickly.
The other thing is some kind of neurodevelopmental condition, which we have
discussed here before, somewhat like autism or sensory defensiveness issues.
For this she would see a developmental peds doc or OT or similar therapist I
guess. In the states, this baby would do best at a good Children's hospital
or hospital affiliated with a university.
