I agree wholeheartedly that more research is needed into how we use human
milk in special needs infants. There is no research. However, working in an
NICU for the last 25 years, I have seen infants who will not tolerate their
mother's own milk despite multiple trys. I am deeply committed to
breastfeeding, as you all are, but breastfeeding, like any physiologic
process, sometimes just doesn't "work".
