This is an area of frustration for me, and the reason I am pursuing LLLL
accreditation instead of doing a peer counselor program first. WIC does
not formally sponsor our breastfeeding support group. We use their
shared waiting room (and great toys) for the meetings, and the nutrition
specialist there is one of the contact names on our poster. Not
everybody at the meetings uses or is eligible for WIC. However, to
become a peer counselor, you have to be a WIC recipient. The two most
active, interested people in our group are ineligible for this
training :(

We don't even have an IBCLC, and there is not enough interest among
eligible group members to do training.
