At a recent meeting with the hospital formula rep, the question was made of
whether the addition of DHA and ARA to infant formulas had FDA approval or
was granted GRAS status. The rep stated that it was "approved," while we
(the LC's), stated that we thought it had been given GRAS status, similar to
herbs.
Did a search of the archives and see both terms used, and I guess I'm a
little confused.
Can anyone straighten this out for me?
TIA,
Judy RNC, IBCLC
