I have severe PCOS and had to take domperidone throughout nursing, as have
other mamas I know. Admittedly, I induced lactation so the situation is
somewhat different, but other adoptive mothers I know have been able to
slowly wean off, which I couldn't do if I wanted to have any milk. PCOS is
a disorder that is so different in so many people. An article about its
effects on nursing is at:
http://www.obgyn.net/displayarticle.asp?page=/pcos/articles/childers-chats
The milk supply will recover with domperidone relatively quickly, like in a
few days to a couple of weeks. Reglan is a dangerous drug as far as
depression is concerned and from what I have learned, should definitely be
discontinued, but done slowly, as it sounds like she is doing. Even just
over a couple of days is better than quitting all at once.
