That study was done in South Australia, not here in Victoria, but I would
think they taught the "asymmetric latch". This is what we have doing since
I've been involved in the field (without giving it a name). Chloe Fisher
discussed it in detail at the 1988 international conference here in
Melbourne (ie 15 years ago).
