Hi All,
I just have to rant for a moment.
This week I had two doctors give mothers incorrect advice. I would not
be so upset about this, except *I* referred the moms to these docs! One
ENT told a mom that her milk was not agreeing with her baby and that was
causing the two hour feedings. (I had sent him for evaluation of his
short sucking bursts and long breathing breaks on breast OR bottle that
led to those long feedings). This doc is usually great, and diagnoses
and follows a lot of my laryngomalacia babies.
Then a pediatrician told a mom she can't bf on macrobid, pulling out the
PDR to make his case! Macrobid is AAP "Compatible with BF" and Hale
L2!!! Of course this was the last straw for both of these very
beleaguered mothers.
I frequently refer to these docs, among others. Any ideas on how to
diplomatically educate them? I already gave a copy of Hale's book to
the pediatrician's partner for their office.
And emotional support is very welcome. I'm "mad enough to chew
neutronium" right now.
