I hesitate to add to this already well covered subject BUT.........
If the MD's concern is for the suction exerted, noone has spoken about a
difference in suction pressures between the early infant vs. nursing toddler.
I know from my experience nursing 3 toddlers, ALL nursed very differently
during toddlerhood vs. early infancy in that their initial latch until
letdown would exert some suction (still seemingly nowhere near as much as the
early days!) but move quickly to more of a *sipping* motion once milk was
flowing.
If universal, it would seem that this would create far less concern.
Has anyone else noted this or are there studies to illustrate?
